Our story: the heart & soul of Oreteti Mara Lodge
Oreteti Mara Lodge is deeply committed to the secrets of the Maasai culture, its wildlife, conservation and all its people.
The Oreteti Mara Lodge is a teaching hotel with lodges and luxury tents under the umbrella of the Maasai Education Center (MEC). It is run by local Maasai students learning the curricula of the hospitality industry, under the supervision of professionals. The MEC is an initiative of Style Hospitality Ltd. in the Netherlands.
Pick any safari lodge in the Masai Mara and you will find one of our former students working there. Our winning concept of the hospitality school? Building bridges! This welfare project began to help Maasai tribal leaders to find ways to preserve their traditions, whilst balancing the education needs of their children for the modern world.
That’s why our school curriculum captures every corner of the hospitality industry. Not only tour guiding, but also housekeeping, culinary arts, food & beverage, management, conservancy, entrepreneurship, IT, agriculture, herbal healing studies and of course the cultural lessons of the Inner Wisdoms of the Maasai.
