Put on your boots for a full-day excursion. Come and visit the beautiful Dupoto Forest. Together with our tour-guiding students & ambassadors, visit the forest just behind the school compound for this 60-minute walk & 30-minute drive.
It’s a conservation area known as “Dupoto Forest & Wildlife Association”. Conservation is also supported by The Style Foundation.
Step into a spiritual fairy tale of another world and discover its secrets!
Those who have seen the documentary “Down to Earth” & “Geheimen van de Maasai” will immediately get the bigger picture. Dupoto is a real authentic forest, with many indigenous trees like the Oloirien and the Oreteti tree. Knowing that this forest is holy to the Maasai, already makes it very special. You will learn what kind of tree gives milk, and how the hanging roots of the Oreteti Tree is seen like the umbilical cord from Mother Engkai. How these cords are used for several rituals of giving birth for the Maasai woman. Also, the blessings of Engkai come from heaven through this cord to Mother Earth and give the Maasai blessings and help on their way. Perhaps you will even test how strong this connection is between Enkai and the Maasai, by hanging on one of the lianas and weaving your way through the tees as Tarzan did in the movie.
There will constantly be an extra eye and ear because in this forest live, not only 450 species of birds, but also elephants who give birth to their young. Learn the largest nest of them all; that of the hammerkop bird. As soon as you step into this forest, you enter a totally different world. The energy is “thick”, raw, and very pure. It took millions of years to grow. You feel all the wisdom from those years by walking to the river deep in the forest. On the bank of the river, your picnic lunch is served. It’s a magical place. During the dry season, many different kinds of animals come to drink at the riverside. And of course, you are aiming for the best picture ever.
On leaving this holy forest, you will again experience the traditional way of bee harvesting and you will get your honey medicine in a split second.
