Terms & Conditions set out below apply to all bookings for Oreteti Mara Lodge.
Pricing
All prices are per person per night (unless otherwise stated). Prices are subject to Value Added Tax at the current prevailing rate and local tourism levies.
Prices are subject to change without notice. However, your price is guaranteed once you receive a booking confirmation.
Water, coffee & tea is including the price. Please note that prices do not include any extra charges which you may incur during your stay such as excursion/transfer bills, or taking extra drinks at the bar. To avoid confusion, our students will ask you to sign for agreement of every drink you order. Those bills will be collected and on your departure, we offer you a fully detailed signed bill. You are able to pay be card at the Oreteti Mara Lodge.
Every morning the down payment is made of the invoice of the drinks that evening and also of the excursions to do in that same day.
The prices shown are not valid in conjunction with any other offer and, until you have received your confirmation number.
Availability
Availability of rooms at the rates shown online may be limited and/or restricted to certain periods.
Children
Children under the age of 9 can stay free of charge at our lodge, with a maximum of 2 children per family. There is no possibility to add an extra bed. Small children will use a normal bed.
If a family has 4 children who are under the age of 9 years old, they accumulatively pay half of the price.
Children from the ages of 9 to 12 will be charged per child per night for half price.
We do offer child-friendly menus.
Guests with impaired mobility
Unfortunately, our rooms are not equipped enough for guests with impaired mobility.
Pets
Oreteti Mara Lodge & Maasai Education Center has a few dogs and a flock of chickens. Please be aware that these animals run freely as part of our entourage and will not be removed for whatever reason.
Guests are not permitted to bring pets to the Oreteti Mara Lodge & Maasai Education Center.
Car parking
You can park your car for free on the premises of Oreteti Mara Lodge. It is within our compound with 24/7 security.
However, Oreteti Mara Lodge is not responsible for any damage or loss to your vehicle or its contents.
Smoking
Please note that the restaurant and the lodges are fully non-smoking. It is possible to smoke outside, please respect non-smoking guests.
Arrival and departure
Oreteti Mara Lodge rooms are available from 2.00 pm on the day of arrival. Rooms must be vacated by 11.00 am on the day of departure.
Anyone not vacating their accommodation after the check out time may be charged 50% of the full accommodation rate (list price) by Oreteti Mara Lodge for the additional use of the room up to 6:00pm (after 6:00pm: 100%). Of course this is in the situation that this same room is not booked on this day.
Room keys
We provide one (1) key for every room. If you lose the key, Oreteti Mara Lodge will charge you 50 USD for changing the lock and replacing the keys. Please leave your key at the reception when you leave Oreteti Mara Lodge. We kindly ask you to fill in the key agreement form during check-in.
Sport & Leisure
Oreteti Mara Lodge offers (board) games. You will find these in the restaurant.
Our students like to play volleyball & football. If you would like to join them, they play on the compound of the school. Oreteti Mara Lodge cannot be held responsible for any sickness, pain and injuries arising from using our sports facilities.
Deposits and pre-payments
If you book your accommodation directly by internet you will receive an invoice from the Oreteti Mara Lodge.
100% of the total invoice must be paid into our bank account 30 days before your arrival date.
In the event of cancellation otherwise than in accordance with our cancellation terms, see ‘Cancellations and Amendments’ below for full details.
Tour Operators
If you booked your accommodation with us through a tour operator, you will have paid the full amount to your own tour operator. For any additional charges, like excursions, we will give you an invoice during your stay.
Cancellations and amendments
All cancellations must be made in accordance with our cancellation terms.
If no deposit is made 30 days prior to arrival we reserve the right to cancel the reservation.
Where a cancellation is not made in accordance with our cancellation terms, we reserve the right to charge you the following:
Cancellation 21 days and more prior to arrival, no charge is charged.
Cancellation between 21 days and 15 days before arrival, 50% of the total costs will be charged.
Cancellation between 14 or less prior to arrival, 100% of the total costs will be charged.
No-shows will be charged with the total invoice costs.
Whilst every effort is made to fulfill any particular requests, which you may have in relation to your stay with us, we cannot unfortunately guarantee that we will be able to meet any particular requests which you may make and our failure in this regard will not constitute a breach of contract.
In the unlikely event that we have to change or cancel your reservation, we reserve the right to do so. However, you have the right to:
Accept the changed arrangements as notified; or
Make alternative arrangements with us; or
Cancel your reservation and receive a full refund of any money that you have paid to us in respect of your reservation (please note that we shall not be liable for any sums which you have paid to any other persons in connection with your reservation).
For the avoidance of doubt, we shall have no further liability to you for any changes to or the cancellation of any booking.
Complaints or comments
We take our guest satisfaction very seriously. Any complaint or comment regarding a stay at our lodge should be made in the first instance to the hotel’s duty manager at the time of your stay so that we can attempt to resolve it immediately.
At your departure, we will ask you to fill in a guest feedback form.
Liability
Oreteti Mara Lodge will not be liable for any loss or damage.
Oreteti Mara Lodge is not liable to the guest for property (cash securities and valuables) brought into the lodge.
Oreteti Mara Lodge will not be responsible in case of valuable loss, injury or death caused to the guest in act of robbery in the Lodge.
Activities and excursions are at the own risk of the guest. The guest will not receive a refund for any reason.
All invoices (restaurant, activities, taxi’s etc) signed by the guest must be paid before departure.
In case of any breach of our terms & conditions, Oreteti Mara Lodge, is permitted to remove you from the premises, without any refund.
Although every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of the information contained in this, we cannot accept responsibility for any errors or omissions, and reserve the right to vary, amend, supplement or cancel any of the information or offers featured online at any time.
General information
Oreteti Mara Lodge finds it important to explain to guests about the culture. We kindly ask you to respect the culture and local values.
Please don’t give toys, candy, food or money to students of Maasai Education Center. Many tourists do this already. Sadly, this creates a “begging culture”. If you want to donate something, for example, to the school, please discuss this with the managers of Oreteti Mara Lodge. We can provide you with a funding system of:
1) Helping with school fees of poorer families.
2) Buying a chicken for our poultry department.
3) Buying 2 indigenous trees.
4) Making a contribution to our conservation department.
Please try to avoid too much plastic. Even while plastic is still around, plastic bags are forbidden in Kenya, because it is difficult to recycle.
Privacy rules are also common in Kenya. Be aware to always ask permission of a person before taking a photograph.
Bringing non-guests into the compound at night is not permitted.
Drugs are not permitted on our premises.
Please switch off all electricity (lights) when you leave the room. Save electricity!
Please don’t make any noise between 22.00 pm and 08.00 am. Keep in mind that you are not alone!
All accommodations are non-smoking. You can smoke outside, please respect the non-smokers.
Please leave your key at reception when you leave our premises.
